New School Year Begins 2010 to 2011 Immanuel Lutheran School looks forward to another exciting year beginning with the Roundup Get Together held on August 3rd. This is the time that teachers and the students get together and sign up for the activities and verify the school records and assignments for the coming year. This year the school is expanding to the fourth grade. The elementary division will be housed in one classroom and will employ the use of study centers to teach each of the subjects. Many of the textbooks that the students will be using are on-line books, allowing students to take home their textbook on their home computer. It is anticipated at the time of this writing that the school will have over 33 students in all grades. The teachers have completed a certification program in Early Childhood education through an extension class of Concordia University in Austin. During the last two years the school has been a major evangelism outreach of the church recruiting new families to Immanuel. |

Blessings of Song The school children blessed the members of Immanuel with their singing on March 20th. The children learn a pair of songs each quarter with the aim to sing for family and church members during the regular church service. This particular Sunday they sang two songs from the Songs for the Masses collection for Children. This is a group of Lutheran song writers located in Hermitage, TN. They are members of Immanuel Lutheran. The children have practiced these songs with Pastor Edge during their weekly chapel time and during their regular Jesus class time. The first song is about how we are the Salt and the Light of the Earth. The children liked this song because it has a rock beat. Zachary, one of the Kinder kids says it has a good beat as he bops his head to the rhythm. The other song was call Follow Me is about Jesus choosing the first disciples. Pastor Edge says that the songs help enforce the Bible lessons that are taught during the regular Bible time. The children make a point of letting anyone know that they see their singing as their out reach to people who come to hear them.
